expand your mind

I am up to 690 grains of rice already!
Wahoo!

This one is for you, Bizzaro! (you know who you are)

My fellow Mountain Dew addicts. You must go here to see the most creative Christmas tree! This one took a lot of work, but cool in a college frat house kind of way!

car alarms are worthless

We have this annoying neighbor (other apartment complex) that has a car alarm that has been going off ALL NIGHT. The last time I checked the clock the car alarm had started "honking" at 10:48 and they just turned it off. Time now: 10:54.

I hate car alarms. When we used to live next to my parents, my mothers crazy, possesed car alarm would go off at all hours of the night. Because we lived by a school, the alarm would echo off of the brick exterior. And the even worse part? My parents could not hear it, because the fan on their gas fireplace would make anyone go deaf! So lot's of times at oh...2 a.m. or so, I would have to call over and wake them up to go out and shut it off, that is before I took out a shotgun and put that car out of it's misery. I did not acutually shoot the car, but believe me I really wanted to. Especially since we had a baby and a toddler in the house!

On to the good stuff. We had a great Thanksgiving. Food was good, company good, dinner table talk...in the gutter. You know, a traditional Thanksgiving ha ha.

This weekend we put up our tree. It looks great as usual. The kids have finally figured out to put ornaments all over the tree, not just in one area. Smokey (our cat) promptly pulled down the hot pink bird ornament and batted at a few others. I want to ring her neck!

I was also able to get some scrapbooking done tonite. Here is my favorite page. I am also contemplating teaching some scrapbooking "classes" at a local scrapbooking store. I have to come up with some ideas, and then go in to present them to the store owner. I think it would be a lot of fun, but I keep thinking...would anyone actually sign up to take my classes? I guess we will see what happens.

Eat lots, take a nap

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
We will be going up to a friends this year, as the in-laws are in Oregon, and my parents are in Eastern Washington.
We could have gone to Tillamook, Oregon with the in-laws, but it is such a long drive. I think this year it will be fun to spend it with my homies anyways!

Slap Bet

Does anyone watch How I met your Mother ?
I was reading Barney's Blog (which you can locate at the above link) and saw this:
Monday, November 19, 8pm et/pt
Slapsgiving
As Lily and Marshall host their first Thanksgiving as a married couple, Barney is tortured by the tick-tock of the slap bet countdown clock and the uncertainty of the exact moment the slap is going to be delivered. TV14-DL

Yes, dear readers, you read it right...the slap bet countdown continues.
I love this show!

This girl is funny

I reserved a great book at the library by Amy Sedaris and it is really funny, plus has some great recipes in it. Even for those of you who are :
1. Not female
2. Kitchen challenged
3. Don't usually read a lot

This book is a must read! It has a lot of subtle humor in it.

time waster

I have been officially sucked into the glorious world known as facebook. You should try it, all the cool kids are doing it! So if you are looking for me in the next couple of days, well I probably won't be posting anything...because I will be taking quizzes, adding music and the likes. It's fun!

It's finally finished

Tonite I finally finished my daughters Montessori/Kindergarten scrapbook. This has been no small feat for me, considering she is in third grade now! I wanted to pat myself one more time on the back and share a couple of pages, which are so much better in person.

Here's to completing a project! Yay me!

Iran So Far Away

Another classic!

Brian Willams SNL Digital Short

Mark and I thought this was great! Especially the penny throwing part!

crafty girls

Today we spent some time making christmas ornaments and I finished our camping scrapbook! I was also able to get three pages done in Hayley's school scrapbook, so I feel it was a pretty productive day.

I bought cheap glass ornaments at Michaels, we covered them in glittering glue and then dipped them in diamond dust. All can be purchased at Michaels. Here's a picture of the end result. It even tired out our kitty (as you can see) and she had to pass out in front of the fireplace!

I can't wait to get the sewing maching back from the shop, so I can start on my gifts for christmas.

Jim Gaffigan and the mojito's ugly cousin

Last Saturday some friends and I went to dinner at the Palomino in Seattle. Rose and I hit the bar there at about 3-ish and let's just say that by the time we headed over into the restaraunt, the bartender was calling me "hole in the lips". I do love my lemon drops, but hate the glasses they come in, because they are top heavy-plus the bartender did not sugar it right so the sugar was sliding down the outside of the glass making a huge sticky yucky mess!

Dinner was great until I decided to switch it up a bit and ordered a mint julep, which was disgusting. Thus becoming better known as "the mojito's ugly cousin" (see picture).

We did however have a great time watching our favorite comedian. And the best part of all? We got to meet Jim Gaffigan after the show! It was a great time, with good friends. When can we do it again?

wise old owls

Treasures can be found when you least expect it! I picked up a couple of these new friends at our local Goodwil (or as we call it "the G.W.). I could just imagine they came from some little old ladies house, and I will treasure them as much as she would have!

from the depths of chaos...

We are all still alive here, contrary to popular belief!

Life has been more than hectic. And it continues to be so but I wanted to rub it in to you all that my girlfriends (plus two husbands) are going to go see the palest comedian alive this Saturday. Yup, you guessed it "did I just eat this, or rub it all over my face?" Jim Gaffigan. He is hilarious, and I can't wait to see him live! Plus dinner at the Palomino in Seattle is not too shabby either.

Mark and I used to go there every year for our anniversary...what the heck happened to this tradition?

Anyways, the kids are doing great, Hayley had an excellent conference-she is doing better than we could ever expect in all areas, and the surprise was her beginning of the year math test. Her teacher said she had the highest score in the class. We are super proud, especially because this is not her strong area in school.
Molly's conference was great too! Her teacher wants her tested for the challenge program, and she is far beyond her second grade classmates (for those who don't know she is in the 1st/2nd split class). Testing is in January I believe. I'll keep you posted.

Hayley also is one of a few district wide students who are being honored for their "my favorite book" posters made a couple of weeks ago. Her poster is on display at the public library right now. We don't mean to brag...but our kids are AWESOME! Makes you feel like you are doing something right every now and then (amongst all the trauma we cause by having rules...yuck! ha ha).

I will try to post more often, but don't hold your breath.
