Cabin fever

We got back from the cabin last night at about 6:30. Everyone left early and we headed into Leavenworth to walk around for a while. We went into a Danish bakery and had a kringle, an extra large pretzel and a strawberry danish. The girls tried on hats in the hat shop, which was fun too. They have some pretty cool stuff in that shop, including a Hogwarts tie, Harry Potter scarf, and Hogwarts hat (for all you Harry Potter fans).

This weekends was really fun. The weather could not have been more perfect. We ate, played games, went to Smallwoods (our family favorite), had yummy cupcakes to celebrate Miss Molly's 7th birthday, went to the river where we threw rocks, and some of the adults played wiffleball.

Can't wait to do it again, although we were extremely tired last night.

We're out

In just about an hour we are out of here to go to the cabin for the weekend with our friends. We are celebrating Molly's birthday!

If it were my birthday I would wish for one of these ( I have always thought they were way cool looking :), but probably a lot of work to have) .
With that I am logging off.

it's been "sew" long

I completely forgot about blog world! It started the night I went to Rose's house to sew. I got all excited about finishing up my Amy Butler Barcelona layered skirt ( you can view the pattern here) , then we had the crazy psycho NON-SPRING weather happen and my body got tricked in to thinking it was winter. After that happened, I felt like I immediately wanted to dive into the next sewing project, a super cute "apron overlay" which can also be seen at the above link.

My cat Smokey loves that the sewing machine is out. Mark says she just loves laying on the table by the window, but I know she secretly wants to sew with me. She better watch out, or I might "accidently" run the machine real fast and scare a couple more lives out of her.

I love old fashioned things

We just got back today from visiting my grandparents over in Moses Lake.

Not everyone knows this, but my grandma and her twin sister are sewers to the bone. They used to own a fabric store many years ago, and they sew on a weekly basis for their church, family, etc. My grandma has an extensive supply of fabrics and all things sewing. Sewing will be her legacy according to her! I was so surprised this weekend when she chose to pass some of her "goodies" on to me and my girls. My grandma is not selfish with her things, she just has never given her sewing items away. She said how happy she is that I am taking up this hobby (my mom hates sewing) and that is why she wanted to give me some of her things.

She gave me enough ric-rack to last a lifetime as well as many other items. Here are a few pictures.
